It’s amazing what a workout can do………it can clear the mind and restore its balance.

Exercise is nature’s own anti-depressant, and mood enhancer without any need for drugs. That would be great at any time of the year, but particularly during the darkest months when the days are still short – we could all do with a boost until the light comes back into the sky in spring.

It’s also a great stress reliever because the mind needs to focus on the task in hand (mindfulness), which relaxes muscles and alters the body’s biochemistry.

So start an exercise programme in winter and make it a habit now – it will be a sling shot towards great achievements during the rest of the year.
