What is a Workout

A Workout Gives You Space

What does the word ‘workout’ make you think of?……..Perhaps the onerous, demanding, time consuming, spirit crushing and repetitive ways you’ve tried to get fit in the past……not great! Here are 5 of my more positive thoughts:

A workout is simple – It has a beginning, a middle and an end and there is a goal. If you exercise alone, then you’ll have decisions to make about what to do. If you have a Personal Trainer, all of the thinking and decisions will have been made on your behalf, and so all you have to do is show up with a willingness to try.

A workout gives you some space – It gives your mind some space without emails, text alerts, or demands to do anything or to be anywhere else. For that hour, or however much time you have, you can focus on your body, appreciate what it can do and let your mind go.

A workout is an escape – How many things do you do for other people during any given day? Your exercise time may be the only time in a day when you do something exclusively for you, and it can be a nice escape from life for a short time.

A workout is your secret weapon – Exercise can’t solve all of your problems, but it can give you some very important things which will make your day better…..such as more energy, more confidence and less stress.

You don’t have to question a workout – You may have doubts before you work out, but you’ll always be glad you did it at the end. In our busy lives, it’s nice to have something you will always feel good about, even if it was a struggle to do it.

A workout means different things to different people but, whatever your choice of exercise, value it, give it a high priority, and reap the rewards of doing a workout in every aspect of your life.
